In Dom Hemingway, which opens April 2, Law plays a notorious safe-cracker who’s suffered some bumps and bruises along the way. His nose is crooked, his hair is retreating, and when confronted. He clearly leads with his chin — or some other part of his face. After 12 years in prison, he’s back out — loud and brash — expecting some payback from the gangster gents he protected. But his triumphant return to the glamorous high life is disrupted by several turns, notably his pangs of obligation to his practically orphaned daughter (Emilia Clarke).
It’s a complicated story, but then, Dom Hemingway is a complicated man. Or maybe it’s a rather simple story and Dom is a very simple man. Either way, he’s not boring. “[The movie] is like going down to the pub with him, for an hour and a half,” says Jude Law. “It’s worth it.”

The actress, who rose to fame in 2011 as Daenerys Targaryen in the hugely-popular TV show Game Of Thrones, couldn't contain her excitement when she was asked what it was like working alongside the actor.

"I've rated Jude Law since I saw him for the first time in the Talented Mr Ripley," she revealed.

"I always thought he was a phenomenal actor, and that was backed a million per cent when I got the chance to do this film."
Among the Latin American strand Vamos Al Cine are Gary Alazraki’s Mexican entry We Are The Nobles, Juan Carlos Melo Guevara’s Jardin de Amapolas from Colombia and Jorge Perugorria’s Cuban film Se Vende.

All in all more than 100 films will screen at eight venues and more than 200 filmmakers are invited to attend. The festival runs from April 2-6.

“We are very proud of what this year’s festival has to offer,” said SIFF executive director Kevin McNeely. “Each day guarantees an amazing combination of films from 22 countries, parties featuring premium wines and food from local restaurants, an industry panel focusing on films that are important to make, and gracious hospitality offered in our stylish Backlot Tent…not to mention the most talented group of filmmakers and actors attending from around the world.”
